The satellite is intended for applications involving the logging, setting, monitoring and control of analog magnitudes (e.g. belt position, motor speed, oven temperatures).
This satellite platform features:
RS485 Quamatic Net serial port. The net line is galvanically isolated from the other resources on the platform, while the serial data are available locally per RS232 with no flow control (RX and TX only) for debugging and diagnostic purposes.
8xC51Fx processor, 64K SRAM and 64K EPROM. Given the parametric nature of the Quamatic line, operation is not limited by the processor type or the available memory.
Watchdog/Sanity timer. Its operation is transparent to the user.
14bit A/D, 40 microsecond converter and 6 bipolar channel multiplexer. The channels are fully protected and handle analog signals in the range of -10V to +10V. For enhanced noise immunity and response, the analog front end features a shield driver. The converter autocalibrates by reading the internal 10 Volt reference.
12bit D/A, 1 microsecond converter providing bipolar or unipolar outputs.
Four galvanically isolated bit outputs. These can drive local automation (such as relays, contactors, alarms, vanes) supporting the operator via the running application on a local PC (connected to the satellite serial port) in the productive running of the equipment. The outputs can be configured as optocoupled NPN transistor or 5 VDC types.
Six galvanically isolated bit inputs which drive the processor directly and its interrupts. All inputs enable fast data capturing as well as control of local automation (such as workpiece counting, position/speed from encoder pulsing, scrap rejection) and as already mentioned, the operator is supported effectively in running the equipment productively. The bit inputs interface to all types of signaling (normally open/closed contacts, current source/sink and so on) and can be digitally filtered or debounced via the Configuration File.
